Looking for something to do over vacation? The Children's Room has a slew of activities. See the Children's Schedule for details

Effective November 1, 2008, if multiple items are waiting for pick up you will now be required to check them all out at once. This is due to space constraints. We appreciate your cooperation.

Thinking about donating to the Children's Room Renovation? Have you thought about donating appreciated properties such as stocks, ETF's, mutual funds, bonds or real estate? Then read the article by Julian Block, a Larchmont attorney, on how both the library and you can benefit.

The Children's Room may be closed, but the good news is the activity hasn't stopped. The adult section of the library has a new vitality. The children are finding plenty of picture books, easy readers and “skinny” books in the adult magazine area (or more officially the Reading Room). Our older readers are finding a nice selection of fiction and nonfiction titles located on the upper and lower levels, respectively.

But that's not all. There are computers, children's programs (contingent on renovation needs), audiobooks, DVD's, cd's, graded book lists and more librarians! So if you've been busy with summer and haven't had a chance to enjoy our transitional children's collection, don't wait any longer.

Do you know about the plans for the Children's Room renovation? Go to the aptly named Children's Room Renovation page to learn why we're doing this, who is involved, what is involved and how you can help. We've also created a blog (http://larchmontkids.blogspot.com), where you can keep track of the latest developments. Go to the blog to see some preliminary drawings.

Students will be thrilled to learn that the Library has acquired ten new reference ebooks. Titles include the Encyclopedia of World Biography, Encyclopedia of Modern Asia and Renaissance: an Encyclopedia for Students. Go to the E–reference books page and look for the red lpl circle label.

We've tweaked this page slightly to make access to the catalog easier. There is now a direct link to the catalog and a separate link to other useful catalogs such as White Plains just below the Online Resources. Please use eLibrarian to let us know what you think.

Don't be shy. If you are having problems with the new catalog system, let us know. We can't get the system to fix problems unless we know about them. You can email us at larchmontlibrary@hotmail.com, use the eLibrarian page, or call us at 834-2281 (ask for reference).

The Friends of the Larchmont Public Library have launched their Magazine Sponsorship Program. Help support the Library's periodical collection by donating the cost of a subscription. We have prepared a list of our subscriptions and their approximate cost.
