LARCHMONT PUBLIC LIBRARY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MINUTES OF MEETING
August 20, 2009
Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees Subcommittee met on August 20 at 11:30 AM. Present were Board Chair Miriam Curnin, Trustees Joan Macfarlane, Carolyn Parlato, and Maureen LeBlanc; and Library Director Diane Courtney.
The group looked at more carpet samples and voted to stay with the original choices. The Board approved green VCT tile for the Activity Room and also examined vinyl samples for the lobby, but made no choice at this time. Instead, it asked that the architect provide square-foot price differences between the ceramic tile originally chosen and the vinyl; it was felt that now that the lobby will be smaller, using ceramic in the downstairs lobby may be possible.
Joan Macfarlane reported on her trip to Mass MoCA, and brought photos to serve as inspiration for the stairwell walls. She also provided samples of decals that had been previously discussed.
The Director showed the group the architects’ sketches received to date and reported that some changes will be forthcoming. No MEP drawings have been received to date, and the structural engineer is stalled until after the meeting about the parapets, which will be held tomorrow.
John O’Malley joined the group at this time. The Board extensively discussed the merits and drawbacks of the proposed. Dryvit system, possible alternatives, and asked the Director to email Calgi specific questions about exterior systems.
Mr. O’Malley then reported on the conversations he’s had with Werner Tietjen’s office regarding the HVAC. He is confident that the drawings will be completed soon.
The Board then unanimously approved the lists of bills dated 8/19/09 and 8/20/09 upon motion of Joan Macfarlane, seconded by Carolyn Parlato.
Dominic Calgi will be asked to furnish a revised timeline.
The meeting adjourned at 2:40 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Diane Courtney
Library Director
