Book Award Season!

At the end of January, the Association for Library Services to Children held their annual book and media awards. During this event the two most anticipated awards; the Newbery Award, for most distinguished contribution to American children’s literature, and the Caldecott, for most distinguished American picture book are presented.

This year’s Newbery winner was the book, Hello, Universe written by Erin Entrada Kelly. This fateful tale of friendship for middle grade readers (grades 3-5),  revolves around a group of children and a missing boy.

Wolf in the Snow by Matthew Cordell was this years Caldecott winner. This richly illustrated picture book tells the story of a little girl and a wolf cub who both find themselves lost in the snow.
