Rhythm and Rhyme with Rebecca Eller – Get a jump start on literacy! We will share developmentally appropriate books, finger plays, songs and rhymes to use from the crib to the car seat. This program teaches new songs, rhymes and finger plays, while celebrating old Mother Goose favorites like Itsy Bitsy Spider. A parent or caregiver must attend. Age 2½–4 – This interactive story time will take your child on an adventure through reading. A parent or caregiver must attend. No sign up. Just come.
Ages 6 to 18 and caregivers – Alan Abrams continues his programs teaching chess to the younger kings and queens of Larchmont. Please register for the February sessions by calling 834–2281 on or after Friday, January 15. Space is limited. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library.
Ages 6–18 — Come to the Library for an hour of fun and games. Bring a friend to play with, or make a new chess buddy at the Library. This is not an instructional session – it's just for fun. Chess boards will be provided, and gaming will take place in the non–fiction section. Sign up is not required.
Ages 4–6 — Enjoy stories of love and celebration of Valentine's Day, and create your own love bug to give as a gift or keep for yourself. Please register beginning Friday, January 15.
You don't have to be in Vancouver to get into the Olympic spirit! Come to the library for our own indoor version of the XXI Olympic Winter Games.
— Ages 2–4 — 10–10:30am — We'll hear funny sports stories, light the fire–free library Olympic torch, have a mitten toss and test your aiming ability with an Olympic ring toss. Please call to register beginning January 15.
— Ages 5–7 — 11–11:45 am — Enjoy sports stories, have a snowball toss contest, build an edible winter sculpture and more gaming fun. Register by calling the Library beginning January 15.
— Ages 8–11 — 3–4 pm — See some great historic Olympic moments, have an indoor snowball relay race, a winter clothes relay contest and more. Register beginning Friday, January 15.
Ages 7–10 — Join us for a celebration of the popular series by Dave Pilkey. We'll have an underwear slam dunk competition into... you guessed it... a toilet bowl, use the Name–O–Change–O chart to find out your Professor Poopypants name, and have a TP Tower–making contest. Register beginning January 15.
Ages 4 and up – Soiree, that's fancy for "party." Wear your fanciest clothes and prance over to the library in honor of the beloved Jane O'Connor character. We'll read some Fancy Nancy favorites, have a fashion show, and make our own plume (that's French for "feather") pens. Feather boas, tiaras, sparkles, ruffles and bows are welcome and highly recommended. Register for the 2:00 or the 3:00 session beginning Friday, January 15.

Ages 4–6 You are invited to a party to honor the Elephant and Piggie series by Mo Willems. We'll enjoy books featuring that dynamic duo, have a sneezing contest, make bird's nest hats and more!
