Rhythm and Rhyme with Rebecca Eller – Get a jump start on literacy! We will share developmentally appropriate books, finger plays, songs and rhymes to use from the crib to the car seat. A parent or caregiver must attend. Registration is required by phone, email, or in person and is limited to Larchmont Public Library card holders.

Valentine Love Bug Story/Craft

Wednesday, February 10, 3:30 – 4:15 pm

Ages 4–6 — Enjoy stories of love and celebration of Valentine's Day, and create your own love bug to give as a gift or keep for yourself. Please register beginning Friday, January 15.


Library Winter Olympics

Tuesday, February 16 at various times (see below)

You don't have to be in Vancouver to get into the Olympic spirit! Come to the library for our own indoor version of the XXI Olympic Winter Games.
Ages 2–4 — 10–10:30am — We'll hear funny sports stories, light the fire–free library Olympic torch, have a mitten toss and test your aiming ability with an Olympic ring toss. Please call to register beginning January 15.
Ages 5–7 — 11–11:45 am — Enjoy sports stories, have a snowball toss contest, build an edible winter sculpture and more gaming fun. Register by calling the Library beginning January 15.
Ages 8–11 — 3–4 pm — See some great historic Olympic moments, have an indoor snowball relay race, a winter clothes relay contest and more. Register beginning Friday, January 15.


Captain Underpants Party

Wednesday, February 17, 3:30–4:30 pm

Ages 7–10 — Join us for a celebration of the popular series by Dave Pilkey. We'll have an underwear slam dunk competition into... you guessed it... a toilet bowl, use the Name–O–Change–O chart to find out your Professor Poopypants name, and have a TP Tower–making contest. Register beginning January 15.


Fancy Nancy Soiree

Friday, February 19 at 2pm or at 3pm

Ages 4 and up – Soiree, that's fancy for "party." Wear your fanciest clothes and prance over to the library in honor of the beloved Jane O'Connor character. We'll read some Fancy Nancy favorites, have a fashion show, and make our own plume (that's French for "feather") pens. Feather boas, tiaras, sparkles, ruffles and bows are welcome and highly recommended. Register for the 2:00 or the 3:00 session beginning Friday, January 15.

Kite–making Workshop

Ages 6 and up – Did you know that April is National Kite Flying Month? We're celebrating it at the Library with a little help from paper, duct tape and bamboo. Weather permitting, we'll let our creations soar from the front lawn. Please register by calling 834–2281 on or after 9 am on March 15.


Spring Pinwheel Storytime Parade

The Great Paper Airplane Contest

Monday, April 19 from 6:30 to 8 pm

Calling all future pilots! Distract yourself during Turn Off TV Week by creating and soaring your own paper airplane in the Library. Prizes will be given for participation and for the longest flight in several age categories. See the Great Paper Airplane Rules page for pointers, rules, and suggested books and webpages. Registration is not required.


Earth Day Decoupage

Wednesday, April 21 from 3:30 to 4:30

Raid your recycling bins and bring your leftover glass and plastic containers to the Library. We'll use old magazines to turn them into usefule works of art. Please register by calling 834–2281 on or after 9 am on March 15.
