Write a new chapter for the Children's Room
Why?
- Our children need more room, more books, more activity space and a warm, welcoming
environment.
- The building is 45 years old and very out of date.
- The current room is very deficient in energy saving measures. Windows, heating system,
lighting all date from 1962 and need modernizing to help save fuel, save money and provide
a comfortable environment.
- The book collection needs to expand to include more books our families want, especially
for toddlers and little children.
- The children's room needs to be rewired to accommodate more computers more
conveniently.
- A parenting collection will be a rich resource for our community's parents.

What?
The planned renovation to the room and building infrastructure is expected to cost
approximately $2.7 million. Former Town Supervisor and Judge George Burchell
and his wife, Peg Burchell have made a generous bequest that will fund
approximately onefourth of the projected cost. Here is a preliminary architectural drawing of
the Burchell Children's Room:
