MINUTES OF SPECIAL LIBRARY BOARD MEETING

JANUARY 16, 2009

The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on Friday, January 16, 2009. The meeting was convened at 9:40AM.Present were Board Chair Miriam Curnin, Trustees Joan Macfarlane, Maureen LeBlanc, Pamela Tillinghast Dubitsky; Architect Richard Hein; John O'Malley,and Library Director Diane Courtney.

 Civil Engineer:All agreed that there is the need for a civil engineer to study drainage of rainwater, including roof drainage and tie-ins of plumbing to the sanitary sewer. Richard Hein will contact two engineers and get proposals for this work from them. John O'Malley will talk to VoL DPW and ascertain their capability and willingness to employ a camera system.John will also try to check the sewer line location and invert.

 A sump pump will be added to specifications for the elevator pit.

 LEED certification: all agreed that this is still a goal and we are on track.

 Roof: O'Malley will set up a meeting with Calgi, Hein and a Firestone representative to look at the work that needs to be done and insure that it does not void the existing warranty, which is in effect until 2022.Hein will incorporate Firestone's recommendations into the specifications.

 Electrical panels: following up on meeting with WB, O'Malley will work with Hein's office to provide exact location of first floor electrical panels to WB.


Reviewing and refining the drawings led to the following:

Storage area (where stairwell is to be removed): It was agreed that ceiling and flooring would be omitted at this time, and there would be an infill of the small area of wall that would be exposed by stairwell removal.

The handicapped doors will have electronic openers.

 Pavers will be unilock. Color to be selected.

Committee will look at tiles recommended by R. Hein for bathrooms and lobby floors:a field trip will take place on Jan 23.

A lengthy discussion about the light fixtures and costs ensued."Green" light fixtures are currently specified and are desired.Costs to be studied.

 The meeting was adjourned at 12:25PM.
