Play New York State Chess Champion, Joshua Colas!

Saturday, March 8 at 11:00am. Grades 5 to 8. Meet in the Michael P. Coords Activity Room. Register NOW.  This event will be filmed by Neighbors TV, a website that teaches the basics of chess. All participants under the age of 18 will need to have a parent sign a release form in order to allow your child to be filmed. Release forms will be available at the beginning of the event. Here is your chance to learn from a Champion! Join New York State High School Chess Champion, Joshua Colas, for this exciting chess exhibition and chess play.  In his young chess career, Joshua has won six national championships and has been named to the All-American Scholastic Chess Team every year since 2009.  He qualified to represent Team USA at the World Youth Chess Championships in Greece (2010), Brazil (2011), Slovenia (2012), and United Arab Emirates (2013). On December 16, 2010, Joshua earned the title of Chess Master making him the youngest African-American Chess Master in history! Joshua won the prestigious 2013 New York City High School Chess Championships and the 2013 New York State High School Chess Championships.  He accomplished both feats while only being a high school freshman. Joshua was born and raised in White Plains, NY.
