Battle of the Books Team Practice

TEAM MEMBERS ONLY. Thursdays, September 14, 28 and October 5, 12, 19 at 5:00pm. Michael P. Coords Activity Room. This practice session is for Larchmont Public Library Battle of the Books Team Members only. While practice sessions are closed to everyone except team members, you CAN plan to come to the final Battle of the Books competition on Saturday, October 17, at 9:00am at Ossining High School to cheer the Larchmont Library team to victory!

Larchmont’s Annual Scarecrow Festival

All ages. Saturday, October 21 through Monday, October 23. (Rain dates: October 28 – 30).  Larchmont’s annual Scarecrow Festival is back! Come enjoy all the scarecrows on the front lawn of the library and VOTE for your favorite! Voting will take place from 12pm to 2pm during the annual Ragamuffin Parade on Saturday, October 21. The three scarecrows with the most votes will be displayed in the library. Don’t miss the fun by being a part of this Larchmont Halloween tradition!

Grades 8 and up. Thursdays at 6:00pm. October 26 and November 2, 9, 16. Online registration required – Must be able to attend all four workshop sessions.

Join Lauren Albert, Mamaroneck High School teacher of Personal Finance and Macroeconomics, for this four-part workshop. The four one-hour sessions will enable teens to build an understanding of basic money management and will cover topics including: spending versus saving; investing (stocks, bonds); borrowing and loans; consumer protection and being a savvy consumer. This program partially funded by a grant from the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library.

Grades 6 to 12. Tuesday, November 7 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The LOFT. No registration required. Mamaroneck schools are off on Election Day so come hang out in The Loft. Our rough schedule:

9:00am: Doughnut holes and hot chocolate for the early birds.  We’ll ease into the day by coloring geometric bookmarks and trying some logic puzzles.

10:00am – 12:00pm:  Make a stop-motion video using Legos and one of our ipads.  No experience necessary!

12:00pm – 12:30pm: Lunch in The Loft.  We’ll make hand-rolled sushi.
