Rediscover Historic Greenwich Village with Martin Schneit

Meet in the Village Center. Greenwich Village is probably the best known and most celebrated village in the world. It has a long tradition as a haven for nonconformists. Some of the topics that will be discussed include the creation of Washington Square and Washington Square Park, New York University, Greek Revival Architecture, the Louisa May Alcott House, the Stonewall Uprising and the Triangle Shirtwaist Company fire on March 25, 1911, which was the site of the worst workplace disaster in the United States until the collapse of the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001.
