I think the Library should buy…

There are lots of ways to make a suggestion. You can call or email the Reference Department at 914-834-2281 x3 or larchmontlibrary@larchmontlibrary.org.  On our Contact us page, we have the emails and phone number of each reference librarian along with their collection responsibilities so you can go right to the person who makes the decision. You can stop by the Reference Desk. Or you can scroll down and use the handy dandy form we’ve got below.

We welcome suggestions from our patrons about things we should buy. Certainly we are more likely to buy something if the community we serve has evinced a desire for it, either by placing holds on it or suggesting we buy it. Just be aware that our funds are not inexhaustible and our shelf space is not unlimited, so the fact someone has suggested we buy something does not necessarily mean we will.
Be aware, too, that even if we don’t buy something another library in the County might. If another Westchester Library System library buys it, you can put a hold on it. If no one in WLS buys it, don’t give up. Once the blush of newness has faded, and it is a book (sorry no cds or dvds) owned by a library somewhere in the United States, we can probably get it for you (see the Interlibrary Loan page for details).
