Migrations aren’t just for the birds
Libraries do it too. This March it’s our turn as all 38 member libraries of the Westchester Library System migrate to a new Integrated Library System or ILS. An ILS is the computer system that runs everything from checkout to the catalog. During the actual migration, scheduled to begin March 11 and to last three days, you must have your actual library card to check anything out. Additionally, only five items may be checked out at a time.
We figure you’ve got a lot of questions, such as what, if anything, should you do to prepare? and why are we doing this? We’ve got answers to those questions and more at our New Catalog FAQ page.
- If you use your library account to keep track of checkouts or to keep lists, that information won’t carry over to the new system. You should print that information before it disappears on March 11. If you need help, a librarian at the Information Desk will be glad to help you.
- Any service where you sign in using your library card# and pin won’t work during the hiatus. If that is the way you sign in to Overdrive, set up an Overdrive Account before March 11. Or you can wait until the 14th when things will return to normal… basically.
