November 10, 2020
The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met via zoom on November 10, 2020, attended by Library Board Chair Lauren Gottfried (LG), Board Trustees Celeste Sharpe (CS), Barbara Flickinger (BF), Barbara Liptack (BL), Galit Lopatin Bordereau (GLB), John McGarr (JM), and Linnet Tse (LT), Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Jeffery King (JK), Friends of the Library Liaison Jennifer Rabina (JR), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE), Liam Hegarty Head of Reference (LH), Library Staff Assistant DJ Brucciani (DJB).
Board Chair Lauren Gottfried called the meeting to order at 6:32pm.
Committee Reports
Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: Upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee the Board voted unanimously to approve the list of bills dated 11/4 and the Additional List of Bills dated 11/10. LE reported that the Finance Committee had met with the TOM to present a draft of the FY21/22 Library Budget.
Following discussion, JM made a motion, seconded by BF, to approve the following resolution, which the Board then passed unanimously: Resolved, that the Board of Trustees (“the Board”) of the Larchmont Public Library (the “Library”) hereby directs Village of Larchmont Treasurer Kimberly Gutwein to transfer $70,000 from the Library’s Fund Balance to the Library’s Capital Projects Fund for the Library 2020 Roof Project in order to pay invoices related to the Library 2020 Roof Project, with such invoices ultimately to be funded through New York State grants once they are received.
Building and Grounds
LE updated the Board on the status of the Library’s 2020 Roof Project and the bid opening for the Library’s HVAC Project.
Director’s Report
LE provided a report on 1) the current state of Library operations 2) recent and upcoming programs at the Library and 3) the results of a recent survey concerning patron willingness to use curbside when it is moved into the vestibule due to inclement weather.
Upon the recommendation of LE the Board voted unanimously to approve the hire of part time custodian Eric Jordan effective 11/5/2020 at a rate of $20 an hour.
Board Chair Gottfried adjourned the meeting at 7:22pm.
