Peruse in a Park, Part 2
This week the Library and the Friends of Larchmont Parks are focusing on Vanderburgh Park, more commonly known as Turtle Park. Besides pleasant places to read, it also has playgrounds for the children. We’ve put a display on the mantel in the Main Reading Room of turtle (and tortoise) related books. They range from field guides to Turtle Moon by Alice Hoffman and to The Mauritius Command, where naturalist Stephen Maturin takes time off from conquering the Mauritius Islands from the French to name a newly discovered species of land tortoise after his friend, Captain Jack Aubrey.
