Friday, June 24 - September 2
All Day
Now till September 2nd. This year our Adult Summer Reading Game explores the world of the arts. Participants might win a prize, but they will definitely end up with a fine piece of art. Reading a book from one of six art-based categories: acting; architecture; literature; music; painting; and other visual arts earns you one chance in the Game’s raffle. You can enter in person at the Information Desk desk or online. Keep track of your progress using the beautiful color by numbers drawing. Earn two bonus raffle tickets by presenting a completed work of art to the Information Desk.

Thursday, June 30
11:15 am - 12:00 pm
Thursday, June 30th at 11:15-noon on Zoom. Step back in time with Professor Edwin O’Donnell as we explore six innovative decades from the Gilded Age (1865 – 1900) through the Progressive Era (1900-1920). Marked by economic, political, social, and technological upheavals, the U.S. went from an agrarian, isolationist country to the greatest industrial power and a nascent geopolitical superpower. Meet inventors, conservationists, robber barons, civil rights activists, and industrialists, who together forged a new nation.
For those participating via Zoom you can watch the episodes before on Kanopy and then join the discussion at 11:15 via Zoom. A link will be sent out the day before to everyone on the Great Courses email list.  If you have not previously created an account with Kanopy, first set up your account through the library’s website so you have a free subscription.
If you have previously signed up for a Great Courses program you do not need to register, as you are already signed up. Register here for the Zoom link and to be added to the Great Courses email list.
