Great Courses: America’s Founding Fathers
Thursdays at 10:00am. October 3, 17, 31. Village Center. The story of America’s founding—great men who debated, argued, persuaded, and negotiated their way to the U.S. Constitution—is as dramatic and instructive as any in the nation’s history. And there is no better way to tell the story of the Founding Fathers than by pairing an eminent U.S. historian with the very institution that is most synonymous with American history, the Smithsonian. Watch the course overview.
OCTOBER 3: George Washington’s Doubts & Thomas Mifflin’s Congress
OCTOBER 17: Robert Morris’s Money & Benjamin Franklin’s Leather Apron
OCTOBER 31: Thomas Jefferson’s Books & Daniel Shay’s Misbehavior
Dr. Allen C. Guelzo is the Henry R. Luce Professor of the Civil War Era and Director of Civil War Era Studies at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Pennsylvania.
