Larchmont-Mamaroneck Healthy Yards Project: Public Health and Pesticides

Wednesday, May 19

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Wednesday, May 19th at 7:00 pm. Enjoying beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces contributes to quality of life. However, some yard care practices, such as applications of pesticides, have been shown to impact human health, especially for children and pregnant women.

Dr. Sarah Evans, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai, is a trusted authority on the health effects of environmental exposures and child behavior.  She will share a current perspective on:

• Scientific evidence about the impact of common pesticides on people
• Insights about pesticide regulations
• Simple steps you can take to reduce your exposure

This event is brought to you by The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Healthy Yards Project, dedicated to helping residents maintain safe, appealing, and sustainable lawns and gardens.

Sarah F. Evans, PhD, MPH obtained her doctorate in neuroscience from Weill Cornell Medical College and her Master’s in Public Health from Mt Sinai, where she also completed a three-year fellowship in environmental pediatrics.
