Wednesday, April 21

10:00 am - 11:00 am

Wednesday’s at 10:00 am. March 24th, April 21st, & May 19th. “Let no one say the past is dead. The past is all about us and within.” -Oodgervo Noonuccal, Aboriginal poet. Quoted in The Exiles

These gripping stories take us through “leaps of time and place”. Join Ileen Gottesfeld as she guides us in a discussion of these three novels.

March 24th: Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell- Set in 16th century England during the Black Plague, Farrell cleverly imagines Shakespeare’s homelife: the marriage to an unusual woman eight years his senior and the unexpected death of his young son and it’s ramifications. April 21st: The Exiles by Christina Baker Kline- A shocking historical novel in 19th century Australia that explores the lives of three women: two unfortunate convicts sent there on a prison transport and an orphaned Aboriginal girl also a victim of the British colonization era. May 19th: All the Rivers by Dorit Rabinyan- In modern NYC a romance ensues between an Israeli student from Tel Aviv and a Palestinian artist from Ramallah. Can love conquer the conflict that exists between their two historically different worlds? (Put it on hold/download it on Overdrive)
