Literary Bites: A Cookbook Exploration, online through Zoom

Monday, May 11

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Monday, May 11th at 1 pm

Food is our common ground, bringing together families, communities and cultures. Celebrating this universal experience Cooked Up compiled by Elaine Chiew, draws together authors from all over the world.  The stories are united by how they revolve around food, but food is never the only focus of these narratives. Rather, the different writers explore weighty themes like family, clashes of culture, love and divorce, war, death, and more through the lens of the kitchen.

This book is available as an ebook on HOOPLA or you can purchase a used copy from Amazon. We will focus on the following stories in the collection: “Fat” by Krys Lee; “Mrs. Dutta Writes a Letter” by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni; “Run of the Molars” by Elaine Chiew and “Food Bank” by Rachel Fenton.
